This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Where is the outcry?
Ever since the inauguration of Barack Obama, the Republicans have been calling for spending cuts. The deficit is caused by excessive spending, they say day after day. Where is legislation that will cut the salaries of Senators and Congresspersons? Where is the legislation that will cut the staffs and office expenses of Senators and Congresspersons or the travel expenses of Senators and Congresspersons? Where are the cuts on pensions, healthcare benefits and legacy expenses for legislators who have left office or will leave office in the future? Those calling for spending cuts point out that citizens with excessive debt are supposed to reduce their household consumption and expenses. Shouldn’t the same be true for those responsible for crafting the legislation that affects government spending? Senators and Congresspersons on the campaign trail claim to have leadership ability. Perhaps it is past time for them to back up their claims with actions. Let them start by setting an example of fiscal responsibility by reducing their costs to taxpayers.
