This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

What Liberals Want
While I cannot speak for all liberals, progressives, or others on the left, I can talk about my hopes and desires from a political point of view. Before doing so, I would first like to point out those things from the right that I do not like. Believe it or not, I do agree with the right when they talk about less government in the lives of citizens. However, enacting legislation that interferes with a woman’s right to choose is not less government. Legislation that requires a vaginal probe surely is a far cry from less government. Requiring that doctors perform unnecessary procedures that the patient must pay for out-of-pocket or requiring doctors to give patients false information does not meet the smaller government sniff test. I also agree with the conservative fiscal approach to government, but fail to see how increased deficits are in line with that approach. Perhaps a conservative can shed light on the way declining revenues resulting in increased deficits illustrate fiscal responsibility. Finally, less government does not mean the richer one might be the less one pays towards the costs of government. Constitutional Amendments provided for funding of the government by a progressive income tax. Where are the cries for adherence to the Constitution when millionaires are taxed at lower rates than truck drivers? Speaking as a liberal, what I really want is less hypocrisy from the right and evidence that the policies they call for might actually work as promised by politicians on the right.
