The other day,
Romney was taped saying, "He
(Obama) says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers," when
speaking about President Obama's efforts to expand government. "Did he not
get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It's time for us to cut
back on government and help the American people." After criticized by President Obama for
these statements, he then said, "That's a very strange accusation. Of
course, teachers and firemen and policemen are hired at the local level and
also by states," Romney said. "The federal government doesn't pay for
teachers, firefighters or policemen. So obviously that's completely
absurd." What is completely absurd
is the fact that federal tax dollars have always flowed to state and local
government to help pay for teachers, police, and fire. In fact, when the last stimulus dollars ran
out, state and local governments were forced to layoff teachers, police and
fire. Romney should really know better
since as a former governor, he was on the receiving end of federal funds used
to pay teachers, police, and fire.
According to Romney, teachers, police, fire, and other state and local
government employees are apparently part of the Romney world view of the
American people or the American middle class.
In the view of Romney world, the only middle class employees must be
those working for companies taken over by venture capitalists whose jobs will
subsequently be terminates so the venture capitalists can then loot the
company, run up debt, and profit from the closure of the taken over
company. According to Romney, when
referring to the Obama stimulus plan, "It didn't work the first time. It
certainly wouldn't work the second time", but according to most economists
including the CBO, that plan saved over a million jobs and kept the recession
from turning into a full blown depression.
The only people Romney can relate to is millionaires and
billionaires. If you have an AGI of
less than $200,000. you would be crazy to vote for the election of Romney (or
any other republican, for that matter).
