According to Romney, “only Americans who have had
constant, uninterrupted insurance coverage should be guaranteed access to a
health plan, regardless of any pre-existing conditions.” So once again, Romney
demonstrates the degree that he is out of touch with the world of most
Americans. Many of the 8 million people
who lost jobs under the Bush administration economic policies might also have
had pre-existing conditions. Because of
their job loss, they no longer had health insurance and therefore no longer were
continuously insured, and according to Romney, no longer eligible for insurance
(except at extremely high premiums).
This is a man who has no idea of the issues facing the average American. Just as his favorite sport is dressage, his
view of the average American’s finances is totally out of touch with the world
of the middle class in the country he proposes to govern. He continually calls for repeal of the
Affordable Health Care Act but offers nothing to replace it. He claims that Obama is out of touch with
Americans, but constantly demonstrates his lack of middle class reality (“can I
have one of those chocolate things” instead of asking for a donut). It is hard to imagine what would be worse,
to repeat an administration led by another MBA, or to risk that Romney’s
policies are even more tilted towards the welfare of millionaires and
billionaires than was the policies of Bush 43, the policies that resulted in
today’s economic difficulties and today’s middle class trauma.
