What has Grover Done For You?

If you are a voting citizen who either have had or will have an AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) under $250,000 please tell me what Grover Norquist, Charles or David Koch, or any of the other top 1% of wealthy Americans has done for you to win your vote.  What possible benefits could you find for giving these people more cuts in their already low tax rates?  The reality is that they probably pay lower tax rates than you pay so why support their policies?  If you are in the middle class and have an AGI less than $250,000, much of your growth in income and wealth was possibly the result of union activity.  As labor unions negotiated higher wages and greater benefits for their members, non-union employers were forced to try to match the union wage rates in order to compete for labor.  When union earnings increased, management earnings and benefits also increased so even if you had nothing to do with union labor since the 79s you most likely benefited from union activity.  That being the case, why would you want to see the demise of organized labor?  The greatest expansion of the American economy was the growth of the middle class.  Since 190, that growth has stagnated thanks to the implementation of supply-side or trickle down economic/legislative policies.  As a result of those policies, those with AGI over $250,000 have experienced unprecedented growth in income and wealth while the rest of the country remained stagnant.  Many in the upper end of middle class, or with AGI between $50,000 and $250,000 had illusionary growth in their wealth as their residences increased in value, but when the housing bubble burst much of that wealth disappeared.  The same thing happened with their wealth that was invested in 401K and IRA retirement.  Much of that also disappeared as well.  In spite of that, the middle class has continued to support politicians who fail to support their interests and continue to favor the very few at the top.  Republicans claim to be the party of the middle class but when they do so, they are lying.  There is not a single piece of legislation enacted by a Republican legislature or signed into law by either a Republican President or Republican governor designed to benefit the middle class.  To make maters even worse, proposed legislation like the Ryan budget plan will be even more harmful for lower and middle class citizens while granting even more largess to the top 10%.  The survival of the middle class coupled with the survival of the country as we have known it is riding on the 2012 election.  Going back to policies of Reagan, Bush, and the Tea Party is far more of a threat to the welfare of Americans than Taliban, Al Qaeda, and any other real or imagined outside threats.  What possible benefit can come from doing what Grover, Charles, or David wants you to do?  We have 30 years experiencing the "benefits" of supply-side economics and look where it got us... record deficits, record foreclosures, record unemployment, and record poverty.  Do we really need more of the same?
