Job Creators

Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and company are very fond of talking about the “job creators”.  They feel the need to protect these individuals from any increase in federal income taxes.  Their arguments revolve around their self-proclaimed “facts” that raising taxes on job creators will kill jobs.  One point they have neglected to make in this argument is the reality that the same people in any company responsible for hiring are also responsible for firing or eliminating jobs.  So, to level the playing field, let’s look at how the job creators have been doing when it comes to killing jobs:

Since 2008, in spite of receiving lower taxes which, Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, and company claim influences job creation, the job creators have actually killed 7,621,982 jobs over the past four years and nine months.  These totals, by the way, are only the numbers reported for businesses with over 50 employees. Small business layoffs are not reported in the above numbers.  However, if it is true that small businesses create the majority of jobs, as claimed by Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, and company, the effectiveness of tax cuts when it comes to job creation are not only questionable but could actually be a deterrent to job creation.  If one looks at the history of job creation under the eight years of the Clinton Presidency one would see that far more jobs were actually created when tax rates were higher than over the combined years of Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43 with the lower tax rates.  It is unfortunate that the republican party cannot tell the truth or employ real facts.  The country really needs a two party system and both parties need to present actual facts so the public can make educated choices with regard to policy.  Republicans have no facts to support their arguments so they depent upon repeating false information in the hope that constant repition will result in belief of their so-called facts.
