Failure?

How do conservatives define failure?  What indicators are necessary for conservatives to admit that the idea of supply side or trickle down economics is a failure.  There are economists that will continue to argue that the better things are economically for the very wealthy, the better things will be economically for everyone else.  However, when spouting theories like this, there is no historical economic data to support these theories.  In fact, all economic historical data proves supply side economics does not work.  Well, lets restate that claim.  Supply side economics works for a very few, about 1% -5% of the wealthiest among us.  Since 1980 the top 1% have enjoyed significant increases in both income and wealth.  People who derive the majority of their income from capital gains or carried interest have benefitted significantly from the lower tax rates on either of these sources of income.  The same can be said for people who derive their income mainly from dividends on certain stocks.  But, as said before, this is just a small percentage of citizens.  People who receive salaries or are paid an hourly wage have experienced just the opposite economic history since 1980.  Those people, the majority of citizens, have had a hard time keeping up with inflation and hourly workers have not been able to maintain pace with the inflationary increases in costs of living.  This combined with the job losses due to globalization are the main causes of the recent recession.  When only 2% - 10% of the citizenry are enjoying economic growth, there is not enough demand for products and services to force employers to either maintain a high level of employment or to maintain wages and salaries for those who remain employed.  The notion that supply side economics is beneficial is a myth that has been promoted and paid for by a very few very wealthy people whose only interest is capturing as much wealth as they possibly can without regard for anyone else.  One of the loudest voices of this movement, Dick Armey, when he lost his position as a leader of a Tea Party movement was rewarded with an $8 million dollar severance package.  How many members of the Tea Party will earn $8 million dollars in their entire lifetime, let alone receive an $8 million dollar check.  George H. W. Bush, Bush 41 said it best when he called supply-side or trickle down “voodoo economics”.  If one looks at the economic record during the presidential terms of Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43, growth of personal income across the economic spectrum, growth of jobs, growth of wealth across the economic spectrum, growth of tax revenue as a percentage of GDP, or any other indicator all show the failure of this theory once put into practice.  It is a sad situation that is made worse by the failure of the media to show this failure ant to allow the conservative movement continue to put forth misinformation in order to continue economic policies that benefit a very few.
