Senator McCain:
I am writing this message as a FORMER Republican who wanted you to know that your performance at the Senate hearing for the Secretary of Defense was one thing that fortified my decision to leave the Republican Party. As I stated, I was an “Eisenhower” Republican, but I always felt it was a citizen’s responsibility to put country ahead of party. To that end, one would think that members of the Senate would also feel the need to put country first but you have put that notion to bed. Your comments that Chuck Hagel criticized George Bush for leading the country into war in Iraq was totally uncalled for seeing as how the Iraq war was sold to the public and the Congress based upon lies and misinformation. While I have not been active in politics for most of my life people like you, Senators Graham, Cruz, and others on the extreme have given me the impetus to write my blog and to do everything within my power to minimize the success of anyone running for office as a Republican. Your actions throughout the confirmation process of Chuck Hagel definitely affirms the decisions made by myself and fellow Republicans to vote for Obama in your Presidential race. Based upon this behavior, the country is far better off with your loss in this election. Please continue your senseless rants as they are an inspiration for when I tire of my efforts to help defeat Republican candidates for office.
I must add that your appearance on Meet The Press today, 2/17, only served as reinforcement that the American voters knew what they were doing when your attempts to be President ended in defeat. Your appearance was quite possibly the very least Presidential appearance since "oops".
