According To Boehner

In a recent interview, Republican Speaker, John Boehner said,  "There's nothin' wrong with the principles of our party," he said. "But Republicans have not done as an effective job as we should in terms of talking about our principles in terms that average people can appreciate - why balancing the budget, as an example, would be good for American families. We've got to do a better job of helping people understand what our principles are in terms that they deal with every day."  What he fails to understand is that the principles that he defends, supply-side economics and low taxes for the wealthiest 10% are principles that have a negative effect on most average Americans.  The principles he defends are the principles that resulted in Republicans getting fewer votes than Democrats in five of the last six national elections.  The average American does not want cuts in Social Security benefits or in Medicare. The average American thinks everyone, including the wealthy and those whose income comes solely from investments should pay tax into FICA based upon 100% of that income like every other average American.  The average American can see no benefit that comes to them by allowing people with “carried interest” to pay lower income tax rates than their mailman, kid’s teacher, or cop.  Boehner has no idea when it comes to what is best for the average American.  Boehner only knows what he is told by the Koch Brothers and others in that economic stratasphere.  Boehner has no idea what is best for the average American and has been told so by the voters over the past sixteen years.
