A Trump Comeback In 2024 Is Not Going To Happen

Donald Trump lost the presidency, and for now, Trump dominates conversations about both present and future. His outlandish claims that he won the election except for comprehensive fraud have helped raise more than $200 million since Election Day. Many of his partisans share his dream of recapturing the presidency in 2024.  While some may be deeply skeptical that Trump’s moment of dominating his party and public consciousness will continue long after Jan. 20, there is too much evidence in Trump’s history to believe the skeptics. The perception that Trump will remain relevant hinges on the possibility that he is a unique historical figure. Trump, however, is singular in one sense only: No politician of his stripe has ever achieved the presidency.  No other presidential candidate has had the nose for turning a political opportunity into a money-making venture to the extent that Trump has succeeded in using his political accomplishments to enrich himself and his family. Trump has largely abandoned any pretense that he thinks about anything other than his ability to come out of any endeavor a winner. Trump’s still-potent gifts — for channeling anger, for mockery, for conspiracy theory — were once channeled to an agenda that fellow Republicans were largely neglecting, over trade, immigration, globalization, and perceptions of national decline. Those gifts have remained a recipe for sustaining political power.  Trump will not seek the office of President in 2024, but he will run for the 2024 presidential election.  In doing so, he has too much to gain and little to lose.  The businesses run by the Trump organization ae all losing money and will not be able to pay off the loans that will soon come due but Trump as already raised over $200,000 and you can be certain he will find some way, whether legal or no, ethical or not, to pt those funds to his personal use.  Trump has an army of over 70 million voters, the second largest voting bloc in history and, in addition, the Republican Senate and House leadership remain wedded to Trump.  He will not let go of that advantage without financially milking it for all it is worth.  While Trump has no desire to again be President his ego needs to turn down the opportunity as an apparent winner ad erase the possible label of loser.  And, in doing so, will continue the financial scam he has perpetrated his entire life.  Trump will be campaigning under the slogan, “make Trump rich again”, and “Make Trump A Winner Again”.  America will live with his tweets and rallies for the next three years up to the time he as amassed enough to clear his debts and can say he chose to end his campaign because he no longer has a desire to be in an unappreciated spotlight. Just as  he walks away from negotiations he does not win he will run and then walk away from the 2024 election but not before soaking 70 million followers for every nickel and dime possible.
