Trump told Woodward in March that he was deliberately downplaying the seriousness of COVID-19 to avoid causing panic, though in February he told the veteran journalist the virus was deadlier than the worst flu’s. So, why should Trump be believable this time? He has told over 20,000 lies since he was inaugurated. Whether it is denials of the many accusations of erroneous or illegal behavior or a quote he made in an interview with an author of a Trump-subject book, why would this quote be truthful when so many others are lies? It is possible that Trump may be telling the truth to Bob Woodward but the odds are heavily against Trump ever telling the truth. Of course, there are many gullible people who believe him but there are also many gullible people that make the life of a con man much easier. Trump has proven to be unbelievable in the past and as the campaign for his re-election heats up you can be certain he will remain unbelievable in the days and weeks leading up to the November Election. One has to ask why more of his assertions aren’t fact-checked and shown to be the lies he utters every time he tries to put a noun, verb, and adjective in the same sentence. The man was a liar before he was elected President and he will be a liar once he leaves office.
