It seems the term. Socialism, is the GOP’s best campaign tactic heading into the 2020 November election. Trump cannot face a microphone without claiming I(FALSELY, BY THE WAY!) that Joe Biden is a socialist. But, instead of using the term as a name-calling pejorative let’s look at how Republicans have used socialism to their personal benefits. Let’s start with Donald Trump’s 3 day hospital stay. Walter Reed Hospital is totally owned by the government (socialism?)and all employees including doctors are government employees (socialism?. When Trump leaves office he will receive a government pension (socialism?) as well as government paid office expenses (socialism?). He presently lives in government owned housing (socialism?) and his household staff are all government employees (socialism?). Then there are the various government provided tax benefits that are used to the maximum extent by capitalistic, anti-socialism Republicans. Needless to say, these same Republicans insist that the government protect their investments from any down-side losses by allowing them to use any losses to offset income (socialism?). Trump, who reportedly paid no Federal Income Tax over 10 of the past 12 years managed to take advantage of the country’s socialistic tax laws that protect against business losses. I doubt if there is a single Republican alive who would advocate disallowing business loss to offset business income or capital losses to offset capital gains. The very sad fact of this matter is many voters do not understand socialism nor do they realize either the extent to which they personally benefit from socialistic practices. Many voters have latched onto the term socialism and will, as a result of their ignorance, allow Trump to use the term to dissuade votes for Biden when ignorant of the reality that Donald Trump, self proclaimed capitalist, is the biggest beneficiary of socialism in the country.
