The question that needs to be asked is whether or not Joe Biden won the election or if Donald Trump lost the election. Trump didn’t have magical powers. He instead became only the fourth elected president in the past century to lose re-election, after Herbert Hoover, Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush. That’s the good news for Democrats. Imagine what the results might have been if Trump aggressively pursued a solution to Covid-19 rather than putting his equally incompetent son-in-law in charge of procuring PPEs and ventilators. Then there’s the House Bill, passed in March that still has yet to face a Senate vote. Trump could have “bought” this election by pushing McConnell and other Republicans to pass this bill and restore the unemployment assistance and the $1200 money to everyone. Had Trump kept his mouth shut and let medical experts determine the actions to fight the virus he cold have looked a lot more presidential and won some of the “iffy” votes. All in all, it is questionable if anyone in the nation’s history had a more fucked up campaign with so much money being spent on favors for family and friends. The 2020 election was Trump’s to lose and he did not disappoint. Much in the manner of Trump Air, Trump Tower-Chicago, Trump Casinos, Trump Golf, and other failed or failing Trump ventures Trump displayed a singular skill in how to fuck up. His bluster and bullshit got him so far, but it would not get him across the finish line in the 2020 election just as it failed to get him across the line in many of his business attempts. Trump is singular in his ability to turn gold into shit. He inherited $400 billion dollars and managed to turn that into $900 billion debt. While that may be a record accomplishment it certainly is not a successful business endeavor. This election was a perfect example of Trump being Trump and snatching a defeat from what should have been the jaws of victory.
