Donald Trump has been the nation’s most ineffective and most incompetent President when it comes to the arts and skills of governing. However, his effectiveness in creating a new reality cannot be denied. While his creation of reality may exist only in his head he has also managed to effectively convince at least 40% of Americans of his version of reality. That skill in creating a different reality from one based upon actual information and fact is the mark of a true con man. Not unlike Bernie Maddoff, Donald Trump, in spite of world record business losses, has managed to convince many gullible people he is a skilled businessman. He convinced supposedly intelligent individuals to ingest unproven medicines. He continues to falsely claim the end of the Covid-19 virus in spite of all evidence to the contrary. By ignoring medical evidence that face masks and social distancing arfe today’s best preventative actions to protect from Covid-19 infection Trump continues to hold campaign rallies where hundreds, if not thousands of his supporters pack into comparatively confined spaces resulting in spreading Covid-19 infection. At the same time he mocks his political opponent for following scientifically recommended guidelines. Then there is the issue of truth versus lies, fact versus conspiracy theory, professional intelligence assessments versus FOX TV hosts assessments. It is a sad state of affairs where the American voting public is either too stupid, too ignorant, or too lazy to recognize the discrepancies between Donald Trump’s view of reality and the real world of data and fact. This just goes to prove the Barnum theory of a sucker being born every minute.
