One trait necessary for a successful President must be a good sense of judgment. It is obvious that skill was lacking in the person in the Oval Office over the past four years. It would not been hard to imagine a totally different outcome is Trump had gotten behind the second stimulus bill passed by the House in March of 2020. If Trump had said he would only sign that bill if the stimulus checks were raised from $1200 to $2000 and had pushed McConnell to bring that measure to the House as soon as it passed the House you ca be certain the results of the 2020 election would have been different. Fortunately for the American people the President lacked the judgment to visualize the results of supporting a measure passed in the Democratic controlled House and, in spite of advocating a $2000 stimulus in mid October, was not able to make that happen and not only lost the Presidency but aided in the Democrats willing both Georgia Senate seats. So, we now are looking at two future presidential hopefuls, Senators Cruz and Hawley. Both of whom apparently lack sufficient judgment to stop backing a loser. While both are apparently jockeying to be acceptable by the Trump voter one has to question their math skills. Isn’t either of them aware that there were 10 million fewer Trump voters? Did they forget that Trump lost both the 2016 and 2020 popular election and was only elected President because of the electoral fluke of the Electoral College (which he also lost in 2020). Didn’t either Hawley or Cruz take a math course? Don’t they know that 80 million is more than 70 million? Why would anyone with political ambition seek out losing voters? One would think any Republican with presidential ambitions would be trying to find ways to entice the Biden voter. This should not be very hard with the present economic situation and with income inequality so pervasive. Both political parties have ignored at least 50% of the eligible voters over the past 50 years and it would not take a great number of policy changes to encourage their support. Instead, Republicans continue to base pol;icy on myth and lies and continue to claim to be for small government and fiscal responsibility (until they get into office). It should be stated here and now that the words and actions of both Cruz and Hawley are ample proof that neither has the necessary judgment to serve as President.
