Filibuster

It is time to put an end to the filibuster.  This is a Senate procedure that is past it’s time.  This procedure, requiring 60 votes for legislation to pass in the Senate has been so abused by Republicans that it no longer has any merit.  Republicans used the filibuster during the Obama administration to prevent any of his legislative attempts from being passed in the Senate.  While McConnell talks of bipartisanship his past actions belie his words and eliminating the filibuster is necessary for the accomplishments of the Biden Presidency.  Failure to eliminate the filibuster will spell failure for any immigration reform.  Failure to eliminate the filibuster guarantees the Republicans will continue to block voting rights legislation and continue their attempts to suppress voted from Black and Brown citizens.  Retention of the filibuster will also stand in the way of necessary reforms of the ACA.  There can be no justification for keeping the filibuster a part of Senate procedure.  It needs to be removed.
