This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Election
The start of silly season has begun. For the next nine months we are going to hear how the republican candidate for president is going to rescue America from the clutches of President Obama. We will be told that the way to create jobs is to lower taxes. However, since 2002 we lowered taxes and when Obama was inaugurated, we were losing 700,000 jobs a month in spite of seven years of lowered taxes. We will also be told that reducing regulations on business would create jobs. However, from all appearances all reduced regulations has produced is economic disaster and a collapse of the banking system. We will be told that business uncertainty is the reason for lack of jobs. However, when has there been a time in history when business was ever certain? What the republicans fail to note is the fact that only 2% of Americans have experienced any financial growth over the last 20 years. What the republicans fail to note is that today, 47% of households are at or below the poverty line. What republicans fail to address is the fact that while tax revenues as a percentage of GDP are at all time lows, spending as a percentage of GDP has remained constant. Republicans will say government cannot create jobs but these words are being uttered by republicans trying to get on the government payroll. Some republicans will claim that spending government money will not create jobs but these words are coming from the mouth of an individual whose recent financial success depended upon his ability to induce government to spend to enrich those who were paying his bills. If you are part of the middle class and want to improve your lot in life, going backwards is not a wise move. If you are unemployed or under-employed, the failed policies of republican administrations will not solve your job problem. If you have a family and need security from any health issues, repealing Obamacare will not provide that security. If you are concerned about your senior years, privatizing Social Security and Medicare will not ease that concern. The republican platform is focused on increasing the wealth for those who are already wealthy, reducing taxes for those who already pay a lower percentage of their income in taxes than the rest of us, and reducing regulations on business to prevent business from screwing us over. Before you decide whether or not to vote for a Republican, quit listening to FOX, Rush, or Glen. Visit the following web site: http://whattheheckhasobamadonesofar.com. Learn the facts rather than depending upon rhetoric from the mouths of republicans who created the mess the country's in to begin with.
