This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Explanation Please
Does anyone find it strange that the lowest approval ratings for President Obama are from low income, non-college educated, white males. This group of people have been hit hardest from the decline in manufacturing jobs. This is a group of individuals who would be most helped by extension of unemployment benefits and by education to upgrade their skills. For the most part, this group of men was, at one time, the backbone of manufacturing. However, those companies who did not move jobs offshore have automated and now much of the work previously performed by low-skill employees is being done by robots and other automation devices. Today’s manufacturing needs are mostly in the area of equipment maintenance where skills in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic maintenance combined with PLC programming knowledge is required. This is not the strength of the low income, non-college educated white males. At the very least, a two-year community college education is required for today’s manufacturing jobs. But the real question is what does any alternative to Obama offer his opposition. What is in a Republican platform that would make life any better for low income, non-college educated, white males? The Bush tax cuts did not help as most did not earn enough to pay anything but the lowest marginal tax rates (if any taxes at all). Many of these people, if still employed, benefited from the low income tax credits. Most, if still employed, benefited from the payroll tax holiday. What possible issue could have appeal from a republican or be off-putting from Obama’s policies. Any and all explanations would be appreciated.
