This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

President Romney, REALLY!!!
One would think it might require a degree of intelligence to be the President of The United States. Although comedians and pundits criticized Bush and Ford for a lack of intelligence and complained Clinton and Obama had too much intelligence, there is probably “the right amount” necessary to perform in the “most difficult job in the country”. Now we have Mitt Romney making such gaffs as forgetting his first name is actually Willard. His nomination may hinge on winning a primary election in Michigan, the auto state, yet he opposed the auto bailout. Not only is Michigan the auto state, but 20% of the families in Michigan have connections to labor unions. What did Mitt do but bash labor unions. Late night comedians have used videos of Mitt’s gaffs since the clown show called the republican primary contest started. It seemed that he was good for at least a video a week when he would put his foot in his mouth and say something that was as far from presidential as possible. Mitt has never been higher than 30% in any polls, and while 30% may have held a lead from time to time, 30% means 70% of people polled do not find Mitt at all presidential. It takes a lot of time, money, and effort to seek the job as president. If it appears that 70% of people from your own party are saying. “anyone but Mitt”, what does that say for Mitt’s judgment to keep soldering on? If faced with a decision as commander-in-chief and his generals say there is a 30% chance of attaining a military objective, will Mitt commit troops? If faced with a decision about foreign policy where advisors think there is a 70% chance of failure, will President Mitt press on regardless? One objective of a political campaign should be to demonstrate judgment under pressure. The best way to demonstrate good judgment is to, as they say in Nashville, “know when to fold them”. Just because there is an ability to spend more than anyone else does not mean that is a very good way to display presidential judgment. We are less than four years from a president who spent a lot more in money and lives because of poor judgment and bad intelligence. Mitt, the country cannot afford to repeat the Bush years. Quit while you can do so gracefully. Between your gaffs and legislators from your party’s ability to alienate virtually every female voter, your chances of being elected president are now far worse that 30%.
