There is no question
that the federal government is too big and wastes too much money. The reality
is that any organization with more than 3 people will probably waste a
percentage of expenditures in the mind of one of the 3 members of thatg
organization. The question that needs
answering is what federal expenditures should be eliminated. For a start we might consider reducing the
costs of defense. This especially true
when it comes to spending for defense activity outside of our borders. If the
government is going to piss away money it would be a nice change to do so
within the US. The next issue would be
to publicize the truth about spending for those in need. Are we creating habitual needy people? What percentage of those receiving benefits
are long term recipients and what, if anything is being done to limit an
individual on welfare or other benefits for a given period of time. Third, are we spending as a country enough to
grow the economy to the level of the 1980s when there was middle class
growth. Do our citizens have the
necessary skills and education to compete in a global economy and, if not, what
needs to be done to upgrade the knowledge and skills to the necessary levels. Just complaining about government waste will
not solve any problems. On the other
hand, why not suggest specific areas where fiscal restraint is called for.
