Moderates?

Where are the moderates? What happened to those politicians or the talking heads that believed that neither extreme was good for the country? Is there no place for moderates in either party? It seems that the passage of any legislation requires some catering to the extremes. Medicare D passed but prohibited the government from negotiating prices of drugs from the drug companies. The Affordable Care Act still depends upon for-profit insurance, the group that is most responsible for the need of an Affordable Care Act. Look at the Ryan Budget plan where the wealthiest will most benefit from tax cuts which will add to the deficit. Virtually every non-partisan economist takes the position that there is a need to raise additional revenue yet there are calls for even more tax cuts by those furthest on the right. There is a need for compromise and compromise can only be possible if everyone is willing to moderate their philosophical positions. History has demonstrated that extremism does not work. Where are the moderates?
