American Exceptionalism?

Mitt Romney claims that he, not President Barack Obama represents American exceptionalism. Nothing could be further from the truth. Romney lived the life of European aristocracy. Romney’s inheritance, private schooling, immense wealth, or growing up with a CEO and a Governor (with Presidential ambitions) resembles the life of royalty far more than the average American and his achievements are way beyond the dreams of the average American whose mother might hope would grow up to be President. On the other hand, Barack Hussein Obama, in spite of a name like his, grew up in a single parent family, lived for a time in a foreign country, never had many of the advantages of someone who grew up like Romney. He managed to avoid poverty and the pitfalls faced by many of mixed backgrounds and many who were raised by a single parent. Obama was able to acquire an education and devoted his life to serving people. As he has said, only in America could someone raised by a single mother, without financial assistance from an absentee father, become the President of The United States. Also keep in mind that it was only in 1967 when the U,S, Supreme Court declared all laws banning mixed marriages like the marriage of his parents to be illegal throughout the entire country. If anyone epitomizes American Exceptionalism it is Barack Hussein Obama. But the real issue should be what has one’s past experience done to equip a person to competently perform as President of the United States. Romney cites his business background while downplaying his experience as governor of Massachusetts. In case anyone reading this post has a short memory, Bush 43 claimed his business experience was the biggest asset in his quest for the presidency while downplaying his experience as governor of Texas. Ask 80% of Americans how they fared under Bush 43 and whether they would like to repeat that experience. Obama, on the other hand, IS THE PRESIDENT!
