This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Obama’s Economic Policy?
The Republicans are very outspoken in blaming President Obama for the present state of the economy, but who is really at fault? Did the Bush tax cuts originate with Obama or a Republican administration? What has the effect of those tax cuts been on the deficit and annual debt? Let’s talk about Republican wars. While Obama has ended the combat operations in Iraq and has set a date to remove combat troops from Afghanistan, these wars were started by the Bush administration which, by the way, was Republican, and there was no provisions to pay the costs of these two wars which are still accruing under the Obama administration. Let’s not forget the recession of 2008 which, by the way was also under President Bush and resulted in 8 million job losses and the loss of tax revenue from 8 million unemployed as well as the costs of providing “safety nets” for 8 million unemployed. Finally, there are the bills proposed by President Obama to do necessary infrastructure repairs and work that would, according to the CBO, create 2 million jobs, reduce the unemployment rate by 2 percent, and add to tax revenues, and have all been blocked by Republican filibusters. Unfortunately, Americans have never had the opportunity to determine if Obama’s economic policies would be effective. Republicans in the Senate refuse to allow any Obama legislation to even come to the floor for a vote by blocking every bill with procedural filibusters. Thanks to Republicans, we may never find out if Obama’s economic policies would end the recession and put Americans back to work.
