This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Right Track?
When the Republicans say we are not on the right track, just what do they mean? What is the Republican idea of a right track for America? Looking at the Ryan/Romney budget plan, the right track would seem to mean even lower taxes especially for the to 10% of Americans. They plan to pay for these lower taxes by cutting food stamps for the poor, school lunches for children, and other cuts in the safety net for Americans in need. The Republican right track also seems to involve more spending on defense. Considering the fact that America is presently spending more on defense than the combined defense expenditures of the next fifteen nations, the defense train is too far off the track already. Right track in Republican-speak would also seem to mean that when it comes to healthcare, you’re on your own. If you get healthcare through your employer that is great, but if you lose yor joband your healthcare along with the job loss, well pity. And, don’t forget the Republican track which says that unemployment benefits are disincentives to search for another job so they should be minimized as well. Are you a woman? If so, have you looked at the Republican track for women? Forget all of the legislation regarding a woman’s control over her body, but don’t fail to remember that the Republican track for women does involve trans-vaginal ultrasounds without her permission. The Republican track also does not involve pay equality with men. If you are a college student or a parent of a college student you must realize that the Republican track doubles the interest costs of many student loan. Cash-Now and Quicken Loan can offer mortgages at 3% the government cannot keep college loans at 3.4% if on the Republican track. The next time you hear a Republican talk about right track and wrong track, ask him or her to be specific and describe just what track they feel the country should follow. Keep in mind that we were on the Republican track from 2001 – 2009 and for all but the top 10% of Americans that track did not lead to a very pleasant place.
