This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

The Right Track? According to Who???
“America is on the wrong track” according to Romney, Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, and countless others on the right. Elect Romney as President ansd American will again be on the right track, the claim. Just what is that right track one might ask. In 2000, when George Bush was elected, the country enjoyed a fiscal surplus. The track he ran on over his eight years found the country not only in deficit, but with a larger debt than all previous administrations combined. The Republican track that ran from 2000 to 2008 ran from peace to wars that were started because of questionable intelligence that some even refer to as lies. That same track neglected to budget for or pay for the costs of those wars, thus contributing to the previous mentioned deficit. That track also passed through tax cuts that also increased the deficit as did the track the passed through the unfunded Medicare D, drug program. Finally as the Bush 43 track approached the end of the line we saw jobs being shed at alarming rates and at the very end of the line, 850,000 Americans a month were becoming unemployed and the track went right into a recession. The track today runs through an end of the war in Iraq, the killing of major al Qaeda leaders including Osama bin Laden, and a planned end to the war in Afghanistan. The track today is still borrowing to pay the costs of those wars, but borrowing somewhat less than before. On the job front, the track has passed through over 25 months of private sector job growth and while this is a better direction, Republican filibusters have prevented progress as fast as is needed to get back to where we were in 2000. The track today also finds many Americans who did not have healthcare insurance on the Bush track, now covered. Depending upon the decision of the Supreme Court, virtually all Americans will have some form of healthcare insurance is we continue on the Obama track. Somehow, listening to those on the right, the “right track” is a return to the Bush 43 track where 1% of Americans will benefit and 99% struggle to hold their own. The “right track” sounds like a track that will again lead to job loss for all but the “job creators” and, at best, stagnation and recession for everyone else. The right track??? Really???
