This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Tax Facts!
The Right continues to push the big lie that tax cuts have resulted in more jobs and lower unemployment. There are about 5 million Americans who should actively question this lie. These are the Americans who have lost their jobs since the implementation of the Bush tax cuts and have failed to find new jobs. Consider the following:
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE (%)
In 2000, TAX SHARE OF GDP was 20.6% while the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE was 4.0%;
in 2003, TAX SHARE OF GDP was 16.2% while the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE was 6.0%;
in 2007, TAX SHARE OF GDP was 18.5% while the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE was 4.6%;
finally, in 2010, TAX SHARE OF GDP was 15.1% while the UNEMPLOYMENT RATE was 9.6%.
It should be obvious that while the so-called “job creators” saved thousands in federal income taxes the revenue received by the government declined as a percentage of GDP while the unemployment rate increased. How did that happen? What happened to all of the jobs the “job creators” were supposed to create because of their lowered taxes. Is it possible that the Republican Senators and Republican Congresspersons, most of whom received far more tax savings than 80% of American taxpayers are misrepresenting the results of the tax cuts in order to personally benefit? Is it possible that those who would lose the largest amount of savings, the top 10% of Americans, are trying to continue to avoid paying their fair share of the costs of government? If the “job creators” needed the tax cuts in order to create jobs, where were the jobs? How, after receiving twelve years of tax cuts, can the “job creators” explain the increase in unemployment? Enough of the lies already. Tax cuts were tried and failed to create jobs. Reducing the size of government failed to create jobs. The time has come to try a different approach. The old way did not work in the past and will continue to fail in the future. By now that should be obvious to anyone other than McConnell, Cantor, Boehner, and company.
