Lying or Ignorant?

Are the Republicans lying to Americans or are they just ignorant?  Ever since the Affordable Care Act came up for the first vote, the Republicans have claimed that with passage, the “government” would come between citizens and their doctors.  This claim was furthered echoed by the TEA Party and the talking heads on propaganda media such as Fox, Rush, and Beck.  The problem with this claim is that it is false.  Government has been between citizens and their doctors long before the Affordable Care Act was proposed.  First of all, the Affordable Care Act does not involve treatment but payment for treatment.  This legislation mainly provides a requirement for insurance coverage for medical conditions and does not tell doctors how or when to perform medical procedures.  Second, anyone with Medicare already had government determining what would or would not be covered by their government-provided healthcare insurance.  Veterans using the VA have, for years, been using socialized medicine for their healthcare needs.  The government owns all of the facilities and hires all of the medical staff.  Apparently both the TEA Party and other Republicans are ignorant of this fact and of the existence of “socialized medicine” in America.  Then there is employer provided or individual provided health insurance...guess what; the government was involved long before the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act.  The Republicans and TEA Party must not ever heard of state insurance commissions.  These are government entities in each state in the union that oversee insurance companies.  In many cases these commissions are involved in setting rates, determining coverage, and have other involvement in getting between citizens and their doctors.  Seeing as how many of the insurance commissioners are Republicans there is little call for their demise on the part of either the TEA Party, Republican propaganda media, or loud-mouth talking heads.  To hear Republicans tell their story, they appear ignorant of state insurance commissions.  But wait, perhaps they are aware of them but just are lying to the American people...you make up your mind.  Remember the WMDs in Iraq...Republican politicians have been known to mislead, provide false information, and outright lie to Americans!
