“I intend to get this country on the right track” are
words uttered by Mitt Romney in one of his campaign advertisements. Best we ask just what track does he
refer? If his track involves lower
taxes, the results of the last lowering of taxes was not very beneficial for
90% of Americans. Perhaps his track
involve less regulations similar to the less regulations that led to the
greatest recession since the depression of the 30s. If his track involves legislation to create jobs, 31 votes to repeal
Obamacare. If “the train on his track”
is driven by Republicans, Republicans have introduced 44 bills on abortion, 99
on religion, 71 on family relationships, 36 on marriage, 67 on firearms/gun
control, 522 on taxation, 445 on ‘government investigations,’ and zero on job
creation. Perhaps Romney needs to
clarify just what he means by “right track”.
It is obvious that nothing the Republicans have done or intend to do are
aimed at improving life for middle class Americans. Republicans are only interested in reducing the taxes paid by the
top 10% and do not care about tax reductions for the rest of the citizens. It is also obvious that there is no place
for women on Romney’s track as evidenced by all of the laws that are
detrimental to women’s health and to the right of women to make their own
decisions about their health and bodies.
Neither doe the Romney track seem to run in any direction that would
benefit immigrants, minorities, or the poor.
Just who besides the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, Foster Fries, and
other billionaires will ride on Romney’s “right track? Will you?
