Re-Build???

At the Republican Convention speaker after speaker is claiming that there is a need for “a President who can re-build America”.  The unanswered question and the most important consideration should be re-build from what.  Not a single speaker at this convention has mentioned the reason the economy needs to be re-built.  There is an absence of comments about the reason to elect a President who can create jobs.  Finally, while one of the convention features is the famous debt clock there are no comments about how the debt grew so large.  Also absent from this convention are George Bush and Dick Cheney.  As a reminder, there two Republicans were the President and Vice-President that were responsible for the greatest increase in debt in the history of the country.  The Bush/Cheney administration ran up more debt than all previous administrations combined and they did this in spite of inheriting a surplus from the Democratic administration of Bill Clinton.   None of the speakers mentioned that the need to re-build America was the result of the failed economic policies of the last Republican administration and they also fail to mention that the administration of Romney/Ryan has promised to repeat many of these same failed economic policies that created the need to re-build.  Finally, there is no mention that the need for a President who can create jobs was made necessary because the last Republican president had the worst job creation record since World War II.  In fact, no mention has been made that there have been 30 c0nsecutive months of job growth, 4.5 million new jobs created, and there would have been even more new jobs if the Republican Senate did not filibuster every bill preventing a vote on any job creating legislation.  Finally, one needs to remember that what is said at this convention is no where near as important as what will remain unsaid.  The Republican economic policies of Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43 have combined to result in the virtual destruction of the middle class in America.  Lower tax/less regulations has resulted in more Americans in poverty and lower economic growth for all but 10% of our citizens.  A continuation of these policies along with the ability of billionaires to exert undo influence over elections, and Republicans to enact legislation at state levels to suppress the vote can only guarantee even worse economic conditions for the majority of Americans. Before thinking about re-building the real need is to avoid allowing the forces of destruction to again come to power.  The election of Romney/Ryan will turn the United States into a third world aristocracy where only the very wealthy, living behind walls, protected by private security, will live in peace and prosperity.
