End Financial Influence

The best way to end the influence of big money in the American election cycle would be legislation that prohibits anyone running for federal elected office from accepting a donation from anyone other than a registered voter who is also eligible to vote for the candidate accepting the contribution.  Additionally, the maximum allowable acceptable contribution should not exceed the total of two month’s salary for the position in question.  This would eliminate any and all contributions from corporations, organizations, unions, PACs, and any other non-individual donors.  This would also prohibit bundling or the acceptance of a single contribution from multiple contributors.  Finally, the maximum limit on contributions shall also apply to self-financed funds.  No individual may accept from his or her self more than two months salary for the position in question.  In addition to actual contributions these limits and restrictions should also apply to loans, grants, or any and all other funding sources.
