According to Ann
Romney, “This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing
right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to
realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone
with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the
opportunity to run this country."
One has to wonder whether Ann has actually seen the results of Mitt’s
qualifications and experience on his campaign for the office of President of
the United States. During his campaign
for the Republican nomination, the press was loaded with examples of
misstatements and what his Republican opponents called outright lies. Then, there is the continuing question of
his tax returns. Should one be
considered qualifies for the office of President is that person pays a lower
rate of federal income tax than the average wage earner? Also, should refusal to disclose multiple
years of tax returns enter into one’s presidential qualifications? Part of the job of being President has to
do with foreign policy experience and behavior. During Romney’s European swing, he demonstrated a complete lack
of skill and tact. At virtually every
stop, the foreign press commented on his ineptness. Finally, there is the campaign, itself. Romney is the “CEO” of the Romney for President campaign and
according to many in his party, he is failing at this task. Virtually all of the Republican “talking
heads” are commenting on how badly he is doing as a campaigner. Most blame Romney, himself, for the poor
results of his campaign to date.
Perhaps it is not without irony that Ann Romney points to “Mitt’s
qualification and experience” nor is it without irony the lack of better
results as a result of “Mitt’s qualification and experience”.
