More Grist for the Mill

Mitt Romney has claimed that he was no longer associated with Bain Capital after February 2009, when he left the company to take over the Salt Lake Olympics.  He made this claim when confronted with companies purchased by Bain cut jobs and shifted jobs offshore in the years immediately after February 2009.  However, he has signed SEC documents in the years after February 2008 as the CEO, president, and owner of Bain Capital.  In addition, when faced with the possibility of being ineligible to serve as Governor of Massachusetts due to a Utah residency, he claimed Massachusetts residency and substantiated that by citing his involvement with Bain Capital.  To further add to the confusion, it appears that Romney claimed that his Utah residence during the period in question was his primary residence and paid property tax to Utah based upon that claim.  On the other hand, he had a voter registration address that was the basement of one of his son’s houses.  One final question to help clear up this mystery requires his tax returns showing which state income taxes were paid during that time and which state income taxes were deducted from his federal income tax returns.  The last question with regard to “where’s Romney living” would be where did he vote assuming he did vote.  The Romney ventures can only exist in Romneyworld where what was fact then may not be fact now and all claims are subject to change to protect the career of Romney, the “seriously conservative”, “moderate” governor of Massachusetts.
