The Republicans
cannot stop talking about how disappointed the August 2012 jobs report is for
the country. Apparently they have a
very unique definition of disappointment.
The last time Republicans were in charge, in August 2008, the economy
lost 78,000 jobs. Please note that was
jobs lost, the jobs gained were net zero.
Compare that with the August 2012 jobs report showing a GAIN
(Republicans job creators are supposed to create jobs, remember?) of
95,000. Disappointment has to depend upon
from where you are coming from. In the
year of 2008, the last year of the Bush administration, the last year
Republicans were in charge of creating jobs, there was a total of 605,000 jobs
lost. There’s that word, lost
again. Where was the republican
disappointment then? Where were the
republican talking heads at the end of 2008?
So a jobs report showing a gain of ONLY 95,000 jobs is disappointing in
the world of Romney/Ryan. Creating 4.5
million job in the past three years is failure in the world of
Romney/Ryan. Their definition of
success, the loss of 605,000 jobs in 2008 makes one wonder where they found
their dictionary. Speaking for the Democrats, one cannot help be disappointed
in the reality too many Americans are still looking for jobs. There also is disappointment is the reality
that too many Americans are presently under employed. But that disappoint is more than offset by the reality that while
we are not where we want to be, we are no longer where we were. We are still gaining jobs as opposed to
losing jobs. We have to gain more jobs
but, none-the-less, not enough is far, far better than none at all or less than
none. There is justification for disappointment on the part of Republicans, however. Republicans should be disappointed in the apparent lack of competency in the abilities of Romney/Ryan to lead the country. Republicans should also be disappointed in the lack of competent contenders for the Office of the President. Finally, Republicans should really be disappointed in the lack of an effective campaign on the part of the Romney/Ryan ticket which is illustrated by their expressions of disappointment in the latest jobs report when compared to the latest jobs reports of the last Republican administration.
