In today’s world of politics, there is fucked up, really fucked up and really, truly, totally fucked up. (Should the use of expletives be found to be offensive, please refer to earlier posts discussing the usage of euphemisms versus expletives or Google "expletive or euphemism" in quotes) Today, the Republicans in the United States Senate crossed the barrier going from really fucked up to really, truly, totally fucked up. It was just really fucked up when Republicans in the Senate voted in opposition to legislation they, the Republicans had signed on to as co-sponsors. Why would a legislator co-sponsor a law and then vote against that very law he or she co-sponsored. That is really fucked up. However, Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the U.S. Senate took things to the next level. Mitch McConnell authored legislation to deal with the upcoming debt limit. When McConnell was able to get Harry Reid, the majority leader in the Senate to put that legislation up for a vote, McConnell filibustered his own legislation and prevented the vote. This bears repeating...McConnell wrote the McConnell Act and then, when the McConnell Act came up for a vote, McConnell filibustered the McConnell Act! It is one thing to filibuster and obstruct legislation that may be politically beneficial for the opposing party. At least that is just fucked up as spending four years of legislative activity to do everything possible to stand in the way of the President’s success is just fucked up. But filibuster legislation that has your name as the author... If you are Mitch McConnell and you filibuster the McConnell Act... That is a totally new, supremely higher level of fucked up. Put this in perspective...First McConnell proposes a vote on his legislation and then, at the very next chance to speak on the floor of the Senate, McConnell advises Harry Reid that he is filibustering that very same legislation he proposed less than an hour before. Talk about Senate firsts! That is the ultimate fuck up! That is really, truly, totally fucked up! Perhaps for those who find expletives to be offensive, that is so fucked up that in the future, one could just call something McConnelled and the world would know just how fucked up something that is McConnelled really is.
