Arguments From The Right

When confronted with arguments about things like gun control, the right always responds with twisted logic.  For example, in recent posts calling for bans on assault weapons or high capacity magazines, right wing, NRA argument will eventually turn to questioning whether knives or rocks should also be regulated since people use knives and rock to commit violence. Their other argument will be that “the bad guys” will never submit to background checks or something that implies that any law will not prevent all instances of shootings.  That makes about as much sense as saying we should not try to cure cancer since some people will die anyway from heart disease.  Based upon NRA reasoning, we should not do anything to prevent any deaths because everyone will die sooner or later so the prevention activities will only serve to delay rather than prevent deaths.  While it is true that at some time, everyone’s life will come to an end it is also true that avoiding happenings that can cause this end to arrive prematurely is beneficial to society.  It is also true that Wayne LaPierre and others who preach the NRA logic are, in fact fecally satiated, have maximized their defecatory capacities, and their arguments make little or no sense.
