This is the voice of a former Eisenhower Republican who presently is witnessing the destruction of the middle class because of today's Republican politics and policies. Today, ideology trumps reality and practicality. The time has come for humans to take back the castles from the corporations. Comments are welcome, by the way.

Hypocrisy Rules
It is most interesting that the loudest voices for many issues such as abortion, voter photo ID, sales of liquor or wine in grocery and convenience stores, and other issues of this nature all look to the government to protect their respective interests. Yet, these are also the voices that shout the loudest for less government, smaller government, and government staying out of the lives of of the people. Today, in many of the so-called swing states that Obama won, legislators are talking about changing the rules governing the electoral college votes. Although Obama won the 2012 election with a 5 million margin in the popular vote and 332 to 206 difference in the electoral college results, if Republicans have their way and manage to enact change in the manner of allocating the electoral votes, Obama would not have beaten Romney. Republican legislators and Republican Secretaries of State have manipulated voting requirements with photo ID laws, early voting rules, hours of voting, and placement of voting machines to inconvenience voters in districts known to favor Democrat over Republican candidates. In spite of over a million more votes for Democrat members of Congress, because of gerrymandering on the part of Republican legislatures, Democrats with a majority of popular votes failed to win a majority of seats in Congress. All of these actions are being taken by Republicans in government who claim to favor less government intervention and less government influence in lives of citizens. For some reason, “small government” Republicans do not seem to think vaginal ultrasounds intrude on the lives of women. “Small government” Republicans fail to see that asking teachers to carry guns and protect their classrooms are intruding on the lives of teachers. If one looks at all of the legislation that has passed the Tennessee, Republican controlled Legislature that intrudes on lives of citizens one would be amazed. Eliminate the laws passed by the 112 Congress that intrudes on lives of citizens and the do-nothing 112 Congress did even less than nothing. When will the world wake up and realize that “less government” and “smaller government” are code words that really mean less for you and more for me. Do less for those people but damn well do more for my people. Call it trickle down but watch it actually gush up. Enough hypocrisy, already.
