The New Republican

Paul Ryan must be a new Republican. The New Republican is no longer concerned with either winning elections or even introducing passable legislation.  The new republican is only concerned with voicing policies that are approved only by the most extreme members of his or her political base.  The fact that these policies are opposed by a majority of the country is of no matter.  That these policies have no chance of ever being legislated into law is not at all important.  Ryan, with the newest introduction of his budget, still named Path to Prosperity, once again has brought forth losing legislation that, even if passed by the House of Representatives, will never make it through the Senate or get a signature from President Obama.  Perhaps Ryan gets his political coaching from the coach of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.  For the benefit of those who do not follow the NFL, the Chiefs had the worst red zone record in the NFL.  Talk about bringing a horse to water but unable to make the horse drink, the Chiefs failed to score 75% of the time they managed to move the ball inside the 20 yard line.  Ryan’s record when it comes to turning The Path to Prosperity is likely to fail, not 75% of the time, but 100% of the time.  One would hope that those sent to Congress to represent the best interests of Americans would discover sooner rather than later their policies that failed in the past would also fail in the future.  One would hope that losing votes in Congress combined with losing a national election would signal that losing policies are, in fact losing policies and repeating those losing policies will only result in another loss.  Perhaps that is not the case with the new republicans.  Perhaps they have no desire to see their policies enacted into law because deep down they are really aware of how economically bad they really are.  Then again, maybe they are just new republicans who, for some weird reason, enjoy losing.
