Did Biden Win

Election buffs will be debating the questions around the 2020 Presidential Election for years to come.  The real question is whether or not Joe Biden won the election or did Donald Trump lose the election.  Trump as the incumbent President have many opportunities to widen his chances of reelection but failed to take advantage of any of those opportunities.  Because of his main failure to adequately deal with the Covid-19 virus he definitely put himself in a losing position.  Most Presidents have to deal with one sort of crisis or another during their term in office.  Trump was basically crisis free for the first three years of his term, but in year four he was hit with the Covid-19 epidemic and, in addition to trying to avoid any responsibility to deal with this crisis, he filled the airwaves with lies and misinformation.  The impact of the virus and the related economic impact of the virus gave Joe Biden the necessary tools to bring Trump’s lack of Presidential competency to the argument and Trump was unable to counteract Biden’s assertions.  Had Trump allowed epidemiologists and other professionals set standards of behavior many lives would have been saved and Trump could have looked far more competent and taken credit for his “wise” decision to allow professionals to determine the citizens’ actions.  But, Trump refused to follow professionals advice about social distancing and mask-wearing and went into the election with a loss of over 225,000 lives cemented to his record.  Trump also had an opportunity to push for passage of the 2nd “stimulus” legislation passed by the House of Representatives in March well before the election but he did nothing to encourage the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell to bring this legislation to the floor of the Senate for a vote.  Had there been a Senate vote the legislation would have passed and been on Trump’s desk for his signature giving him a “win” he could have parlayed into his reelection bbut again, he chose to sit on his hands and failed to take advantage of this opportunity that would have significantly benefited the very people who put Trump in office in 2016.  Now Trump and a few of his followers are making asses of themselves by trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election.  Either he or others in his behald have filed over 60 different lawsuits around the country and every one has been rejected by the respective courts.  While he will never admit to his failings, the only conclusion one can reach is Trump blew it.  Just as he has shown his lack of competence when it comes to actually governing, he demonstrated a lack of political skill necessary to win reelection.  In other words, Trump lost it and gave Biden every opportunity ti win.
