While the final results of the 2020 election are not yet official it is safe to predict Democrats lost the election in spite of winning the Presidency. Across the country, in state after state Republicans either retain Senate and House seats that were being contested and in jeopardy of being flipped but they also won state legislative and governor battles. If even one of the two Senators from Georgia manages to retain his or her Senate seat the results of the 2020 election will be even more of a democratic loss. If the Senate remains a Republican majority virtually all of Biden’s policy will be doomed. Just as McConnell was able to block President Obama after the 2010 mid-term election, it is certain that McConnell, having experienced no negative actions from Kentucky voters for his failure to move House passed legislation to the floor of the Senate for a vote, will continue to obstruct virtually all of Biden’s legislative proposals. Democrats may have won the Presidency, but there can be no doubt they lost the 2020 elections.
